The South has been in the grip of a deep Winter freeze all this week. The stables have been plagued by frozen hoses, iced-over water buckets, and farm equipment simply refusing to start. Even the boards of the pasture fences were decorated with the etchings of hard frost. Man and beast blew misty clouds with every breath…creating small banks of crystal fog in the early morning air.
While I have never been one to enjoy the cold–I must admit that the effects of all this frost and ice are quite beautiful. And have inspired my latest work:
